Minutes for the meeting on november 28th, 2004 Present: Hyronymus, Zuu, Prof_Frink, Hellfire667, eXinion, Jpl, chirho, pjaytycy, uzurpator Absent: Epistax, Mek_ Agenda for Sunday, 28112004 @ 2015 UTC - Discuss minutes of the 14112004 meeting - Pick minutes man - FRD (including questions about the adding--process) - Comments on game focus - New featured discussion - Setting Milestones - Project backup (including backup for minutes) - maybe some prototype-progress) - Webpage - Final discussion / AOB - Setting new date + agenda Discussion of minutes of the 14112004 meeting - No comments Pick minutes man - Hellfire667 volunteers FRD (including questions about the adding--process) - All ideas have been added, so we don't need the database anymore. - Hyronymus and pjaytycy will scan the document for dupes - Items in the DD that are related to the FRD will be added to the FRD, the rest will be kept for later use - The DD won't be edited until we have finished the FRD Comments on game focus - Some people have not voted yet. Votes can be entered on http://tt2.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Talk:Game_focus#Voting. - The table will be kept open for two weeks, so we all can vote. - Having the table in row form rather than columns would make it easier for people to vote, but since the poll will be open for just two weeks, the table will stay the way it is. New featured discussion - Suggestions: 1 Destinations & pathfinding 2 Relationships between transport sorts. (aircrafts, trains, road vehicles, ships) 3 Scales - Chirho and Zuu abstained in the voting round, Jpl voted for the first suggestion. All other attendants voted to have the second suggestion as the next featured discussion. - Until the next meeting, relationships between transport sorts will be discussed. In detail, size, speed and capacity will be discussed. - Zuu mentiones that in the first week there were qute some discussion. In the second week it was quite quiet. We have to try to post suggestions and discuss more. Setting Milestones - We finished our first milestone today: all ideas added to the FRD. - In a voting round we agreed to these milestones: * Completed FRD * Design an architecture * Class descriptions * CRC All these with sub-milestones, if appropriate. - The FRD will be completed before the next meeting. On a sidenote: Hellfire667 doubts that we'll make that deadline, but is willing to try. - The FRD will be considered completed when the dupes are out and the document is reviewed and accepted. Project backup (including backup for minutes) - Hellfire has a backup, dated november 18th. - Backup needs to be to an off-site storage, preferably to physical media. - We need at least 2 people making back-ups. - The following backup process is suggested: 1 Chirho will make a script that pulls daily backups off the SF database. 2 Volunteers take copies off chirho's server at least once a week. Prototype progress - Pjaytycy posted a tracklaying prototype on the forum, which is not finished though. In the future, restrictions on what tracks you can build, like maximum/minimum angle/length etc will be added. After that, an algorithm for adding more than one piece of track at once will be added. - Zuu will post some about CrystalSpace, when he has time. - Uzurpator's windows are coming along nicely, although he has had little time recently, so the progress is not staggering. - Zuu has looked into CS's windowing system "aws" and has been able to create some dialogs. It seems to be fairly usable. It has only been tested on Linux, but should work on Windows as well. Webpage - Zuu suggests that we make a list of features that our webpage should provide. The following features have come up: * Link to the meeting's logs / minutes * Link to the wiki * Link to tt-forums * Link to the prototypes? Rejected, will be in the wiki instead, because the website is more static. * Info about the project * A progress bar * A link to the sf.net download page * Eyecandy - We should use the wiki for the developers. - Hyronymus suggests to create a forum topic to see what people want. Pjaytycy replies with to items: beta versions and screenshots. Idea retracted. Instead, a topic will be created on the wiki. Final discussion / AOB - Pjaytycy mentiones that he and possibly other people who are new to the project have difficulties understanding the workings of the wiki. Suggested is to read the intro at wikipedia.org. Also, a link to the intros at wikipedia.org will be added to a convenient place, like the main page. - Zuu suggests that the wiki should be faster when the classic skin, which has only one image per page, is used. Chirho warns that it's a little less intuitive and generally looks crap. People can try it by changing the skin in their preferences. - Zuu mentiones that in the featured discussions, replies should be threaded. He has added examples to the community portals. Also, an exapmle can be found on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_Pump. - Hyronymus asks the attendants to read http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=223546#223546 for inconsistensies. Chirho refers to a "backups" page on the wiki which contains a summary of the backup plan and the proposed redundancy: 1 each week + 1 extra if you can manage. He will need to do some work to get scripts working that will use the date in the filename. Backups should be stored for at least one month, but can be stored longer at each person's discretion. Chirho took a fresh backup during the meeting, which was 557kB, bzip2'd. - Pjaytycy found uzurpator's AOB: Has anyone drawn some production chains, since FRD mentions types of cargo? Next meeting, we'll decide whether this will be a featured discussion or not. Setting new date + agenda - next meeting planned for 12122004, 2015 UTC.
