*** Minutes of the Transport Empire meeting on 20041009 *** --- Meeting begins --- People present: chriho (chairman) uzurpator, Hellfire667, Prof_Frink, eXinion (left early), Zuu, orudge, Hyronymous (joined late) --- Agenda --- 1. Minutes 2. Documents 3. Prototypes 4. AOB --- Minutes --- The minutes from last meeting are accepted. Zuu suggested himself to write minutes for this meeting, which was accepted. --- Documents --- FRD progress: * eXinion has done ideas 181-200, and will do 201-220 soon. * Evan has done his share. * Hellfire667 has done ideas 101-140 * Hellfire667 wants Oliver to fill in the ideas to the traceability matrix when he add them. * Zuu said that he can do some. But all ideas is already assigned. * Arathorn hasn't done anything * Chriho hasn't done his share, since he had hard finding time to do it) * It was mentioned that the wiki can be really slow. uzurpator wondered if everyone have read his Design Document 2.0 (http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=10822) Most people had not read it. It was mentioned that Open Office dont show the figures in the rtf file. Hellfire667 said that he could make a conversion to ps and pdf, which uzurpator accepted. Hellfire667 suggested that we should merge DD 2.0 and FRD. Since their purpose is almost the same. It was agreed that we should merge the requirements from DD 2.0 with FRD, and the implementation parts with the low-level document that we will write later. eXinion mentioned that not everything is covered in the FRD. Stuff like basic buss and truck transport is missing. chirho suggested that we should first add all the ideas from the old thread, and then address the gaps. chirho said that the reason for way we are working this way is to avoid "feature creep" when we move to real development. (I guess chriho is talking about the whole documenting) For now in the FRD we will not care about incompatibility between ideas. But we will throw out ideas that obviously is irrelevant to the game or is ridiculous difficult to implement. In phase II we will take care of incompatibility. If we got any clear conflicts we should raise them with the whole team. If we got high-level conflicts we have to hold them for a while. Next document to create will be the ADD (Architectural Design Document), which will guarantee that the features that will be implemented will work Decisions whether to accept or to deny ideas: 64: During the *long* discussion of idea 64 Hyronymus joined the meeting. uzurpator wanted to have violent competition, like sabotage. Everyone else disagreed, with the motivation that you cant have terrorist actions in a transport simulation. We divided the disasters up into useful disasters, pointless disasters, and things that are 50/50. Concept of idea 64 was accepted, but not its detail. 66: Idea 66 was rejected. --- Prototypes --- Only prototypes so far is some peoples OpenGL helloworld applications. What we should prototyping in near future: * Example data structures for maps. * User interfaces * Interface for track building Was suggested, but decided to not do now. Reason between ( and ). * goods destinations (needs a lot more work before prototyping) * vehicle buying (interface issue) * giving orders (a good description is sufficient) * scale - distances - time scale (postponed until we'll have the first working version that can display objects) [eXinion left the meeting when we were done with prototypes] --- Any other business --- uzurpator asked for comments on the curve-based track laying that was previously suggested at the forums. It was agreed to continue the discussion at the forum since it was pretty late. Zuu's idea to have a featured discussion was positive responded, to give important discussions that had gain to less focus more focus. A featured discussion should be a sticky thread. The thread should be made unsticky after one week. However no decision was made. --- Next meeting --- Next meeting: Sunday, October, 24 @ 19:00 UTC (Hellfire667's birthday)
