--- Meeting begins --- present : pjaytycy, Tombe, Grunt, ChrisCF, jfs, Lega-C, Steve absent : jpl, Metalcore, Hellfire, zuu chairman : Hyronymus --- Minutes --- previous : ok, except misspelling of Steve-'s username => Lega-C leaves new minute taker : PJayTycy volunteers --- Pre-meeting suggestion --- * Type ~ if you're done with something. Some discussion wheter to use it when done or when you want to continue. We decide to keep it "when done" and test it this meeting. Evaluation : see later --- Agenda --- * Music discussion (moved up on request by Tombe) * FRD (comment on rewritten part) * Final discussion / comments on relationship between transport sorts * New featured discussion * Prototype progress * Website/Wiki related issues * AOB * Setting new date + agenda --- Music --- ---- Background music ---- Tombe has 2 questions : - what climates have been decided upon ? - how many hours of music is needed for each of them ? First there is some general discussion about the "climates" topic. It is decided/explained what exactly a "climate" is : A set of graphics, music and game-logic (industry chains, vehicles, ...) that has a general feeling of "fitting together" and can be downloaded/installed as a whole. Based upon TTD, there are ideas for 3 basic climates : Temperate : european Tropical : deserts Arctic : snow & mountains Because of the big amount of content needed for each climate, we will most likely start with 1 climate, but make sure the engine is built to support multiple climates. Tombe will write / has written ambient (background) music geared to each of the 3 climate zones stated above. --- Soundeffects --- * The game should provide soundeffects functionality (vehicles, industries, ...) * Tombe won't do sound effects. * I can fart!~ * What's a Foley artist? Foley artists typically work in radio to propduce effects cheaply * Tombe will ask jabberwalkee if he can do sfx => Tombe leaves --- FRD : comments on rewritten part --- * Hyronymus has rewritten the Gameplay part of the FRD up to point 10.0 * PJayTycy says it's easier and more fun to read => thanks to Hyronymus for doing that. * ChrisCF says there are some excessive ===headings=== at some point there are 6 "=", making the heading smaller than the text. * Hyronymus promisses to rewrite the rest before next meeting. * ChirsCF wants to clear up some problems with 1st/2nd class: what if there is only 2nd class service? (eg: busses) This problem is considered "too detailed" to discuss now in the meeting, especially because the FRD are still loose ideas and we are not bound by it yet. --- Featured discussion : destinations --- * It's a pitty zuu isn't at the meeting because he is "Mr. F. Discussion" (--Hyronymus) * Lot's of unorder. Steve an PJayTycy start discussing the destination topic in the meeting. Hyronymus asks Steve an PJayTycy to discuss at the wiki. * It is decided to keep the current discussion featured. --- ChrisCF asks for wiki related issues to be moved forward --- * how about the backup ? About backups: I need to find a way of getting the datyabase dump and CVS tree (ready for when there is one) to be dumped somewhere other than the placae where the filespace will be backed up, otherwise the backups get clobbered. => ChrisCF leaves --- Prototype progress --- ---- Trackprototype ---- * PJaytycy asks for priorities on his current "possible todo" list. What should be done first so we are able to make the decision on track system. * Steve : without being in 3D there's not much point in continuing it. * First item of the todo-list (making the system more predicitive): * This is for Zuu's comment about the system being too free. You don't need to plan ahead (it's impossible to really plan ahead now). * Won't be a real problem to implement, but a real "idea" on how to do it is needed. * Hyronymus will ask for priorities on the forum because there are too few people in the meeting to really decide. He will "force peeps to make a decision". ---- SGrunt's terrain generation ---- * No comments about that on the forum. Zuu didn't get it to compile. No one else replied. Grunt seems to have left the meeting (didn't log off though). * Hyronymus will ask Hellfire to look at the prototype * On a related note : we need a uniform "design platform", some kind of standard on how to install SDL + addition libraries. ---- JFS's window system ---- jfs created a window system he intended to use in TE. It's not finished yet, but he will post about it on the tt-forums. --- Any Other Business --- * Steve suggests to use the forums more instead of the wiki. Reasons: * easier to see what's new * more attention from other people * wiki isn't great for discussing We decide to keep things like they are now (only 4 active people in the meeting). * making money with TE. Steve asks what would be done with money if get some. * We can't divide it among devellopers. Who would decide who gets how much? * Possible sources of money : donations, advertisement on website * Where to spend money : website hosting --- Next meeting --- Next meeting : 23-jan-2005 @ 20:15 UTC => Signoff Hyronymus => Signoff Grunt => Signoff PJayTycy
